Fiona Matheson

Fiona Matheson, born in 1964 in Aberdeen, is an established visual artist who lives and works in the Highlands where she successfully exhibits her original work. Her contemporary fresh images reflect the rich culture and heritage of Scotland.

As an Artist, Fiona’s relationship with the Scottish landscape is deep rooted. She comes from a family of generations of crofters in the Highlands and farmers in Aberdeenshire.

Meeting buyers and selling products is not new to Fiona as her former career saw her as a menswear designer for Marks and Spencer after graduating in Textiles from Winchester School of Art and being awarded the ‘Young Designer into Industry’ by the Royal Society of Arts.
Painting from a studio overlooking the Moray Firth her identifiable canvases, which can measure up to five feet, are developed. Fiona has maintained the unique textural quality and bold colours of her early training.

Alongside painting Fiona’s PGCE from De Montford University, Leicester has allowed her to teach at exam level in Derbyshire and Inverness. As well as painting she now tutors and develops students’ portfolios.
